Bass and Treble is a two-band Equalizer. The Bass control is a low-shelf filter with the half gain frequency at 250 Hz. The Treble control is a high-shelf filter with the half gain frequency at 4,000 Hz. All slider controls have a gain range of +/- 30 dB. The half gain frequency is the frequency at which the gain is half of the filter gain.

Tune your receiver's fade control until the music comes out of the front speakers only. Then adjust the left-to-right balance to your satisfaction. Note where that setting is. Then do the same with the rear speakers. If the balance settings for the front speakers and the rear speakers are the same, leave them.
Audio balance controls in Windows 10 are found in the Sound menu underneath the System settings. Users must click on “Device Properties” to access the settings. After choosing the appropriate device, scroll down to the Spatial Sound option, where the left and right balance settings can slide between 0 to 100. Save and exit.
Toe them in toward the listening position until each hits a 30º angle (see the illustration above). Then there are the rear left and right speakers. These give a sense of spatial awareness, hence why they’re referred to as the surround channels. They have a sharper 90-110º angle.
